How to install, update, and uninstall unsigned Android APK packages
When opening the downloaded .apk file in Chrome or Files, Android will prompt "Install unknown apps". Tap Settings and toggle "Allow from this source", then return to complete installation.
To update to a new build, simply download and open the new APK. Android installs it directly over your existing app. Your Room SQLCipher database and offline records remain intact.
Unsigned apps are uninstalled like any Play Store app: long-press the app icon on your home screen, select App Info, and tap Uninstall.
